Different types of single buggies
A buggy that is lightweight is a great choice for parents who travel a lot, use public transport or are planning to go on a holiday with their child. They usually weigh less than 6kg and fold up compactly which means they can be carried in overhead compartments of flights. Buggies that weigh less than 6kg are great to travel with since they’re usually easy to manoeuvre. A lot of them come with a sunshade and raincover, which are worth the investment to keep your child happy at any time!
A jogger’s buggy is large with BMX wheels and is specifically designed for use in the gym. It also has adequate suspension to withstand the bounces and bumps of off-road riding. Jogger buggies can be hard to steer because the front wheel may swivel, so it’s important to lock this when mounting road kerbs and crossing roads.
A few buggies are reverse-able. This allows the seat to be positioned forward or backward (also known as parent-facing). This is perfect for babies who are sensitive and want to be able to see their parents. Other models are only forward-facing and are ideal for older children who don’t want to be disturbed.
Alternatively, there are tandem buggies that are designed to accommodate two children of similar age side-by-side. This is useful for families with twins or babies born close together but they can be difficult to steer, especially in narrow spaces. Some tandem buggies come with recline mechanisms on each seat, so that your toddler can lay flat while you are pushing them.
The ideal single-buggy will depend on the size of your family, budget and your lifestyle. If you have a newborn think about a light buggy with a seat that can be used from birth. If you’re looking to secure your finances, look for one that can transform into a double-sized buggy for when the time comes. Phil&teds created the first inline stroller and offer a fantastic range of double kit and stroller bundles that will assist you in achieving this.
Buying a single buggy
A new buggy can be expensive. Most pushchair packages that include bassinets for babies cost upwards of PS700, which can be an enormous amount for parents on limited incomes.
The majority of families end up buying at least two buggies except if they live in a huge city that has easy access to public transport or have an enormous car boot. They also are more likely to spend their weekends in dirty parks. One sturdy buggy that is able to handle rough terrain, carry heavy loads and expand with your family, and a second, lighter buggy that can be used for holidays or in tight spaces such as public transport or crowded streets.
